Youth Programs

Family Ties offers a wide range of activities for school-age children from grades 1-11.

""Around the World Literature""

Every wednesday students from grades 2-5 come to Family Ties to learn about places around the world. They learn about religion, language, food, etc.

~~Buddies~~

Children in grades1-6 interact with students from grades 7-11. Once a month they meet, have fun, find support and learn. It also gives the older youth a chance to experience leadership, volunteerism and responsibility.

^*Drama*^

Every Monday students from grades 6-11 come to Family Ties for drama. They make up their own skits, learn and practice them. Once completed, they preform a public presentation.

!@Student Volunteer@!

Students from grades 7-11 volunteer in the after school programs mentioned. Once a month the Student Volunteers are rewarded for their hard work at Family Ties with an outing or special event.

""Homework Program""

Mondays and Tuesdays we offer pupils from grades 1-3 support with their homework and lessons. The Youth Program Coordinator, student volunteers from grades 7-8 and community volunteers supervise the children.

~~HIPE(Science Program)~~

HIPE stands for Highly Innovative Phenomenal Experiments. Every Thursday students in grades 2-6 come to Family Ties and do hands-on experiments.

^*Youth Council*^

A group of 8 secondary students who:

Create a network of social and academic support.
Give young people, contact with adults as role models.
Obtain work experience by volunteering.
Develop self-confidence.

They suggest different activities to reach these goals and plan an activity once or twice a month.

!@Dance@!

Family Ties offers dance classes on Wednesday at the local school. There are 3 categories for the youths, grades 1-3, 4-6, 7-11. We also offer Aerobics on Monday nights.
